More Than Just a Show: A Volunteer Experience

On a cold winter afternoon, I arrived at the award ceremony feeling nervous and excited to be a part of the award ceremony. The building was already full of other volunteers and people instructing other people. Volunteers from CYOC were everywhere, helping with decorations and making sure everyone was where they needed to be, while performers quietly practiced backstage and ran rehearsals. From backstage, I could hear music from the stage and the sound of people talking as the audience settled in. Even before the ceremony officially began, it was clear that a lot of teamwork was happening behind the scenes.

On January 19, 2026, the Youth Spotlight – Inaugural Greater Washington Outstanding Youth Awards Gala was held at Bender JCC in Rockville, Maryland. The event was organized by the Capital Youth Outreach Club (CYOC) and supported by many community and cultural organizations. It was a special celebration led by young people that brought together different cultures, languages, and generations.

2026 年 1 月 19 日，华府青年（Capital Youth Outreach Club，CYOC）成功主办 2026 华府青年节暨首届国际华府杰出青年颁奖典礼（Youth Spotlight and Award Ceremony）。活动开始前，CYOC 与首批 7 家在大华府地区具有广泛社会影响力的多族裔非营利组织及主流媒体机构签署合作备忘录（Memorandum of Understanding，MOU），以首都大华府地区为起点，共同启动面向国际青年的跨族裔青年公共服务与协作平台。

2026年1月19日晚，众所期待的“青春赞歌”——首届华府杰出青年颁奖盛典（Youth Spotlight）在美国马里兰州Bender JCC Of Greater Washington隆重举行。各族裔青年欢聚一堂，尽情展示各自族裔的文化和魅力，为大家奉上一场丰富精彩的文艺演出。

CYOC自2018年成立以来，从最初只有几十人发展到如今拥有数百成员的青年组织，每一步成长都离不开成员的付出与努力。此次活动不仅是颁奖盛会，也标志着CYOC与各合作伙伴正式携手，共同推动青年赋能与社区服务发展。到场的每位嘉宾都满怀期待，见证这一重要时刻。

青春赞歌——首届国际华府青年节暨首届”华府杰出青年颁奖盛典”（Youth Spotlight · CYOC Award Ceremony）将于2026年1月19日在美国马里兰州（Bender JCC，Washington, 6125 Montrose Rd, Rockville, MD 20852）隆重举行。本次盛典由CYOC主办，获美中经济文化交流协会、美中工商联合会、美中创新创业联盟、美中文化产业协会、希望中文学校、美中实验学校、AANHPI-YAA、大华府健康服务中心、Frederick亚美中心、印度青年对青年、越南青年联盟、韩国文化艺术中心、So What Else等各族裔组织倾力协办。这是一场跨越山海，跨族裔、跨语言、跨代际的青年力量与社会价值的公共庆典。

Enthusiasm is building in the Frederick County area as CYOC is preparing to open a brand-new chapter in our local community. On the 7th of December, I attended a Zoom meeting with several other students, parents, and leaders to discuss this exciting opportunity.

CYOC Frederick Branch Opening Ceremony

On December 7, CYOC held an online ceremony to officially launch its Frederick County branch. Students from across the county came together to celebrate the opening day, joined by adults who offered a brief introduction to CYOC and its mission. Around 23 people attended the ceremony, creating an energized environment for collaboration and new ideas.

Capital Youth Outreach Club (CYOC) is a vibrant, youth-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2018. CYOC brings together more than 700 young people from diverse backgrounds around the world, dedicated to advancing civic engagement, public service, and cross-cultural exchange. Through a wide range of innovative, cross-disciplinary programs and partnerships, CYOC youth continually broaden their horizons in practice, fostering leadership, empathy, and organizational skills. Centered on core areas such as youth empowerment, cultural exchange, community service, and leadership development, CYOC creates a profound and positive impact on the community. For its outstanding contributions to youth development, CYOC has earned broad recognition from academia and community leaders.

CYOC Fall Donation Drive & Fundraising

On November 16, the Capital Youth Outreach Club (CYOC) held the 2025 Fall Donation Drive at Thomas S. Wootton High School. The drive collected items from community members, including clothing, shoes, toys, household items, furniture, school supplies, art materials, and laptops. These donations will support underserved families and students in the DMV area.
