As part of its ongoing commitment to youth music outreach and community engagement, BreezeWood Strings collaborated with the Little Dragon Club (小神龙俱乐部) to present a series of educational, interactive performances during the “Music and Story” (音乐与故事) Sunday series. Designed specifically for early childhood audiences and their families, these events combine live instrumental demonstrations with engaging storytelling to foster an early appreciation for string instruments and classical music.

July 19, 2026: Instrument Exploration & Interactive Demonstration
On July 19, BreezeWood Strings took center stage during the regular “Music and Story” gathering to highlight the violin and cello. Representing BreezeWood Strings, violinist Jenny Yu was joined by cellist Ella to present an educational showcase tailored for toddlers and young children.
The session began with an introductory presentation on the anatomy and acoustics of stringed instruments. Jenny and Ella carefully explained the key structural elements of the violin and cello—including the body, bridge, strings, and pegs—as well as the construction of the bow. They demonstrated how mechanical motion produces sound, contrasting the higher-pitched, resonant tones of the violin with the deep, rich sound of the cello. Through short musical excerpts, the duo illustrated how string friction and bow technique create different dynamic levels and expressions.
Following the educational presentation, the event transitioned into a hands-on workshop designed to spark tactile curiosity. Jenny brought a 1/8-size violin—specially scaled for small hands—allowing the young attendees to experience playing an instrument firsthand. Under gentle step-by-step guidance, the children learned how to hold the miniature violin, position the bow correctly, and draw out their very first notes. This direct interaction provided an enriching, memorable entry point into music-making for the preschool participants.
August 8, 2026: All-Stars Event Showcase & Storybook Accompaniment
On August 8, BreezeWood Strings returned for the Little Dragon Club’s special “All-Stars Event,” bringing together a diverse lineup of young performers and interactive family activities. BreezeWood Strings featured a violin ensemble consisting of Jenny, Leeann, and Judy, who delivered both classical performances and creative storytelling accompaniment.
The trio opened the showcase with a polished ensemble performance, playing arrangements of “Golden” alongside the classic melody “Ode to Joy.” Their performance highlighted musical harmony, timing, and teamwork, serving as an inspiring example for the younger children in attendance.
The centerpiece of the session was a collaborative, multi-sensory storytime segment. As a parent reader presented the picture book “Forest Sports Games” (森林运动会), Jenny, Leeann, and Judy provided live background score and real-time sound effects using their violins. Demonstrating exceptional creativity and instrumental control, the trio utilized various string techniques—such as glissandos, tremolos, and squeaky high-register pitchings—to mimic the movements and vocalizations of various forest animals featured in the story, including sloths, monkeys, and other energetic competitors.
This innovative blend of live string music, animal sound imitations, and narrative reading captivated the children and parents alike, creating an entertaining and highly engaging experience. Through these interactive initiatives, BreezeWood Strings successfully demonstrated how music can be used as a versatile tool for storytelling, creative expression, and early childhood education.
