—帮助有需要的马里兰居民
2026年8月21日，随着“华府青年”社区影响力的不断扩大，CYOC Central-Northern MD Branch正式成立。来自 Anne Arundel County、Howard County、Baltimore County 及 Baltimore City 的青少年义工们，用一场充满热情与爱心的社区服务，为CYOC新分会写下了精彩的第一篇章。
长期以来，CYOC始终坚持“青少年为主导，热情服务社区”的宗旨，并不断在马里兰地区吸纳更多有热情、有责任感的青少年会员加入。正值新学年开始之际，CYOC小义工们来到Small Things Matter爱心分发点，顶着烈日投入服务。大家默契配合，分工协作，顺利完成了500多个书包的打包与分发。面对有需要的人，小义工们不仅亲手递上书包，还主动帮助将物资送到车上。一次次弯腰、搬运与奔跑，送出的不仅是物资，更是一份份真挚的关怀与爱心。
活动中，Commissioner Ms. Roxanne 对CYOC青少年义工们展现出的奉献精神、高效协作和真挚爱心给予了高度赞扬。汗水浸湿了衣衫，却丝毫没有减弱大家的热情。对义工们而言，这不仅是一次志愿服务，更是在亲身劳动中感受分享的快乐，在帮助他人的过程中体会责任、合作与成长。
特别感谢今天每一位参加此次活动的义工会员，Maxwell Luo，Sharill Mao， Logan Zhang，Eva Zhang，Jason Fan, Tristan Walker，Elena Zhang……CYOC Central-Northern MD Branch的故事才刚刚开始，期待在未来的活动中，更多青少年朋友加入我们，让青春的热情汇聚成更大的能量, 把爱心与责任传递到社区的每一个角落！
活动结束回家后，小义工们依然意犹未尽，纷纷用文字记录下自己的感受。对他们而言，这次活动不仅仅是一次简单的书包整理和物资打包，更是一次关于合作、责任与奉献的生动体验。
Jason Fan
As the new school year begins, kids of all ages need access to basic school supplies. That’s why a small group of CYOC, or Chinese Youth Outreach Club, members pitched in to support the DC community by volunteering at the nonprofit Little Things Matter. The Zhang family and friends Jason Fan and Tristan Walker, along with three other members of the CYOC, were involved in packing over 400 donated backpacks with school supplies for families in need. Over the course of a whole morning, the group packed 500 backpacks with school supplies and loaded them into vans to be distributed. The volunteer work made a big difference, as these supplies were enough to supply the whole of a small elementary school. But more importantly, kids Elena Zhang, Eva Zhang, Jason Fan, and Tristian Walker learned the importance of giving back to the community and helping those in need.
Tristan Walker：
On August 21st, The Capital Youth Outreach Club (CYOC) helped pack backpacks for children in need to be sent to schools and homes. The team originally worked on each backpack separately but realized that forming an assembly line was faster and helped speed up the process. The contents placed in the backpacks were glue sticks, composition notebooks, pens and pencils, and coloring materials. The completed backpacks were then put inside a pickup truck shipped to those in need. It was difficult work, but worthwhile because we were helping kids start the school year on good foot. I enjoyed my time helping the adults pack and with streamlining the process.
Eva Zhang：
The school year is starting, and now people need the supplies to do schoolwork. That’s where the Capital Youth Outreach Club and Little Things Matter come up. A small group of CYOC members; Eva Zhang, Tristan Walker, Jason Fan, Elena Zhang, and two other teenagers. The small group was tasked with packing over 200 backpacks, all done swiftly and quickly. Over the time frame of 2 hours, the small group effectively packed 500 backpacks, about 130 to a small elementary school, and the rest to an apartment complex. The effectiveness was made because at the beginning, each person packed one backpack. Then all of us thought that forming an assembly line so that each person handled one section of the process. I thought volunteering was meaningful, and soon people could get the school supplies they needed. I really liked volunteering for packaging.
