On Saturday, August 8th, CYOC Frederick Branch leader Raymond Zhou and Georgia Tech undergraduate Luc Lugez along with others hosted a community pickleball tournament at the Montgomery Tennisplex, bringing together players, families, volunteers, and community members for a day filled with competition, teamwork, and fun. The event was organized as an opportunity for people in the community to come together through a friendly and accessible sport while supporting the CYOC’s mission of encouraging community involvement.
The tournament brought together 9 teams. Throughout the event, players competed in multiple rounds, with each match bringing its own share of close games, exciting rallies, and competitive moments. While everyone came with the goal of doing their best on the court, the atmosphere remained welcoming and friendly throughout the day.
After a series of matches, the tournament concluded with the following results:
🥇 1st Place: Ray & Alex
🥈 2nd Place: Jeffery & Aidan
🥉 3rd Place: Bradley & Michael
Congratulations to all of the winners for their performances throughout the tournament. At the same time, the results only tell part of the story. Every participant contributed to the success of the event simply by showing up, competing, and helping create an enjoyable environment for everyone involved.
The tournament would not have been possible without the support of several people who helped provide the resources necessary to make the event happen. CYOC would like to give a special acknowledgement to Judy, who generously provided the facility for the tournament. Having a dedicated space allowed players and organizers to come together and enjoy the event in a comfortable environment. In addition, we’re also very thankful for Osteosyn, specifically Mr. Zhang, for its generous financial support. Their generosity helped make it possible to organize the tournament and provide the resources needed to create a successful event. Support from community members like Judy and Mr. Zhang demonstrates the importance of collaboration in creating opportunities for local residents.
In addition to the sponsors, the event relied on the time and effort of the organizers and volunteers who helped prepare the tournament, coordinate the matches, and keep everything running throughout the day. Their work behind the scenes played an important role in making sure players could focus on enjoying the competition.
Most importantly, CYOC would like to thank everyone who participated and supported the tournament. Events like this provide an opportunity for people to meet, build connections, try something new, and become more involved in their community.
The success of this tournament is something that CYOC hopes to build upon in the future. With the support of local community members, sponsors, volunteers, and participants, CYOC looks forward to organizing more events that bring people together and create meaningful opportunities for community involvement.
