Participating in the 8th Qiushi Education Forum: 

A Dream-Fulfilling Journey of Listening, Questioning, and Growth

The Greater Washington Area Zhejiang University Alumni Association (ZUAADC) and the Capital Youth Outreach Club (CYOC) successfully hosted the eighth Qiushi Education Forum, bringing together students, parents, and educators for an engaging meeting about education, college preparation, and university admissions. The forum featured five outstanding student speakers who shared their journeys to highly selective universities: Luke Li, who is going to Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Albert Lu, who is going to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Sophie Huang, who is going to Duke University, Ben Luo, who is going to Emory University Goizueta Business School, and Skylar Xue, who is going to Yale University. These students helped discuss the important steps their younger peers should take to prepare for university, and reflected on their past experiences to help guide future generations towards success.

Following the student presentations, Ms. Lin of Bole Education Consulting provided professional advice and mainly focused on helping parents deal with the college admissions process. The meeting concluded with a moderated Q&A session led by Marilyn Zhang and Grace Shao. Students and parents asked questions on topics involving research opportunities, parental support, and incorporation cultural identity into college applications. The 5 student speakers answered questions meaningfully and thoughtfully, showing their dedication and support for the community. As a final takeaway, each speaker offered a piece of advice to younger students. This event provided valuable insights into college preparation and demonstrated the diverse pathways students can take to achieve personal and academic success. Great thanks to ZUAADC and CYOC for hosting this meeting, as well as all the student speakers, volunteers, moderators, and attendees for contributing to another successful Qiushi Education Forum.
