On August 30, 2025, the Capital Youth Outreach Club (CYOC) attended the annual Washington Chinese Culture Festival in Washington D.C. The festival took place on Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd and 4th Street, and was home to many Chinese cultural events. When walking through the grounds, you could spot all kinds of activities in full swing – whether that’s live speeches and performances, people admiring art, talking with their friends, or just enjoying some good food.

Diversity and cultural exchange are one of the most important parts of a country, a society, a community. At the annual Chinese Cultural Festival at D.C., different people from different background, culture, area, came together, shared their culture and embraced other’s culture. Volunteering at the Chinese Cultural Festival in Washington, DC was more than simply lending a hand; it was an opportunity to step into a living expression of culture, community, and connection.

I was truly honored to serve as a youth volunteer at the 23rd Chinese Culture Festival, held on August 30, 2025, at 300 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC, right next to the historic Capitol Hill. Surrounded by the festive atmosphere and the grandeur of the Capitol, this experience became especially memorable. I joined CYOC (Chinese Youth Outreach Center), an organization dedicated to volunteer service and community engagement. Through this event, I not only contributed to the community but also gained a deeper appreciation for the value of cultural exchange.

2025年八月三十日，一年一度的华盛顿中国文化节如约而至。第二十三届美国华盛顿中国文化节在美国首都华盛顿的宾夕法尼亚大道隆重开幕。从早上八九点开始，文化节的现场就逐渐热闹起来。各个展台整整齐齐，仿佛一个绚丽的中国文化画卷。人们精心的装饰着帐篷，许多人身穿传统的中国服饰，为文化节增添了一份浓厚的中华韵味。特色小吃街也渐渐准备就绪，炊烟袅袅、香气四溢。抬眼望去，整条街道都充满了中国文化的氛围，展台展示着各种传统艺术、民俗和服饰，红色的文化节装饰使整个街区显得喜气洋洋。热情的节日气氛很快吸引了大量游客的目光。随着人群不断增多，文化节也正式拉开了序幕。

Volunteering in astronomy has been one of the most exciting and eye-opening experiences of my life. I never imagined that I would spend my evening helping people explore the night sky, but through my volunteer work, I discovered not only the beauty of the universe but also how much people were interested in astronomy, too.

Last Friday, I attended the American Bootes Astronomy Society’s event at Washington D.C. Attending the ABAS’s astronomy event was a truly enriching and eye-opening experience. As someone who has always been fascinated by the night sky but only understood astronomy from books and occasional stargazing, I found the event to be both educational and inspiring. It not only deepened my knowledge of celestial science but also allowed me to connect with a community of people who share the same passion for exploring the universe.

Moving Mountains
I’ve heard a story about a foolish man trying to move a mountain. The story goes that Yugong decided to move a mountain to make path to his village. Day by day, he worked with his family to move what dirt they could. Little progress was made in moving the mountain. I can tell you that after participating in the 2025 National Youth Airborne Robotics sponsored by the Zhejiang University Alumni Association of the Washington DC area and the Capital Youth Outreach Club, that Engineering and Robotics can seem as challenging as moving a mountain.
