Cyoc Does a Donation Drive

By Jeffrey Ji

On 29 July 2023, The Capital Youth Outreach Club, or CYOC, held a donation drive at Wootton High School, at 2100 Wootton Pkwy, Rockville, MD. Over a dozen people donated over four thousand items, including clothing, shoes, toys, and books.

The thousands of items that were collected in the donation drive would be useless if it were not for So What Else, a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the lives of underserved people living in the Baltimore-Washington area. They have provided 85 neighborhoods with free food and youth programming, and will be handling the distribution of the items donated at the event.

Of course, the effort would be impossible without the effort of CYOC, an organization that focuses on providing volunteer opportunities for youth of all ages and abilities. Members participate in multiple activities that benefit the community, such as fundraising for hospitals or these donation drives, for a chance to help the community and earn SSL hours. CYOC is rapidly growing, and there are many ways that you can help us serve the community better. To find opportunities to help or volunteer, you can go to our website, CYOC.club.
