The School Council Association of Chinese Community Colleges of the Greater Washington area of the United States has had its 30th year anniversary since establishment. During this time, the barbecue every year at Black Hill Regional Park has since become a tradition. The barbecue has given everyone an opportunity to reunite, converse, and communicate, as well as a place to learn and find out about new things. People from all different places can gather together here, and share their unique foods and culture from their hometown or home city.

This Activity at Black Hill Regional Park is not possible without the effort and sacrifices from our organizers. The meticulous and careful planning from every alumni association is what gives us our event’s astounding success. Every alumni association believes that this event gathering was a huge success. The president of the China Agricultural University’s alumni association says, “I am grateful for every time [our] alumni have an opportunity to gather together. [I am] very glad to see more and more of our alumni joining our [alumni association]. [This] event has encouraged [our] alumni to socialize. [It] feels like a big family [here].”  The president of the Hunan University Alumni Association states, “As a result of the event [organized by] CCAGW, [our members] have now established a substantial [amount of] trust among [themselves]. They have already taken collective responsibility for the Hunan University Alumni Association together. [They] all are using their own ways to contribute to the Alumni Association.” The president of the Alumni Association of Zhejiang University believes that the people of Alumni associations are very united. He hopes to help this organization bring out more cohesiveness, and to exhibit more impact. The Presidents of the Alumni Associations of Wuhan University, Nanjing University, Xi’an Transportation University, Guangxi University etc. state that University Associations of CCAGW’s activities can provide many school associations with the opportunity to assemble together. It is very important for everyone to have more opportunities to interact with each other. Every alumni association president feels full of adoration to their members, as well as being full of anticipation and hope for the growth and development that will come in the future.

Certainly, CCAGW’s 30 years of operation has pushed for innovation, development, and growth. Besides its alumni association, They have started a new youth department this year. The head of the youth department shares, “[We] would like to gather youth from lots of colleges and universities, give them some guidance, [and] share some information with them, including [information about] schooling and employment. [We would like to] help [our] youth, [and] hope [we can] improve and better their lives.” The establishment of the youth department is to help give youth an excellent social platform. In this way, they can access new things. The establishment of the youth department is extremely meaningful. The assistant head of the youth department believes that this is exceptionally helpful to youth that have newly arrived in the United States. It can answer their questions, solve their problems, which will help them integrate into society faster, easier, and more effectively. At every alumni association and youth department, there also is our volunteer organization, CYOC. CYOC can provide many youth with opportunities to volunteer, to serve our Chinese American community. Every opportunity, being inside CYOC can help us learn new things and understand new cultures, while also allowing us to contribute to our society. The web development department this year has also been formed and operating, with youth journalists and web developers joining the department, helping us increase the understanding, awareness, and publicity of Chinese Culture.

Lastly, let’s once again express gratitude for everyone’s participation and contribution to this event. Let’s hope that CCAGW’s alumni associations improve and develop great lengths in the future.
